The one-day course will comprise of formal teaching & the fabrication of an array of splints including finger, thumb & hand & is suitable for Physiotherapists & Occupational Therapists. The course is NOT condition specific but will give new & less experienced splinters experience of a range of thermoplastic materials & tips & tricks

COURSE AIMS - TO DEVELOP KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS IN: 1. The underpinning theory for static splinting & important anatomical considerations 2. The increased awareness of how to create splint patterns for an array of hand & wrist splints 3. The handling of an array of thermoplastic material through the fabrication of an array of hand & wrist splints

OVERVIEW OF COURSE CONTENT: • Theoretical Introduction to static splinting & anatomical considerations • Practical splint fabrication: 1. Finger Splint 2. Hand Based Thumb Splint 3. Wrist & Thumb Splint 4. Forearm & Hand Splint i.e. Resting Splint or POSI Splint 5. Hand Based Splint

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR COURSE: HANDOUT AND COURSE MATERIALS • This will be emailed to delegates pre course • This can be printed off by the delegate for use during the course delivery

PRACTICAL SESSIONS • Delegates will work in pairs & fabricate a range of hand & wrist splints. All thermoplastic materials & accessories will be supplied for the course • Please bring a pair of scissors

DRESS CODE FOR THE COURSE • Delegates should wear clothing that allows easy access to the upper limb for splinting

RECORDING OR IMAGES • Delegates are not allowed to record or take images (i.e. screen shots or using a camera) of any part of this course in any format
