Editor's comment: playing your part

If all goes to plan, you’ll be reading this issue of Frontline either on, or very soon after, election day, says managing editor Lynn Eaton.

How engaged have you been in the debates? Did you feel you were well informed about the issues, given the articles we’ve printed in Frontline? If you’ve not voted in the past, did you do so this time?

And now, how do you feel things will change – if at all – for you and your family? What about work? Whether in the NHS or in the private sector?

Obviously, I don’t know the outcome of the election yet, as I write this. But I do know that whoever is in government there will be big changes for the NHS. The details of what this means for you and your patients will be decided at national and, primarily, at local level. Now, with the national election over, it’s at local level that your voice can have most effect.

So, do you have any ideas for how to raise the profile of physiotherapy in your area?

Could you use campaigns like Workout at Work and Older People’s Day to help with this?

How soon will you be inviting your newly elected (or re-elected) MP to look at your services and to demonstrate the value of rehabilitation?

Whether the bigger picture goes the way you wanted or not, there’s still plenty to fight for where you live and work. And the CSP will be here, whatever government is in power, to help you do that.

Physios are renowned for being an active profession. So find out more about how you can get involved – starting with Workout at Work!
