Physio podcasts

Recommended by Maddie Jackson, a second year BSc student at St Mary’s University, and social media officer for the CSP SRG

If podcasts are something you enjoy, two good student related ones are the ‘Physio Matters’ podcast and the ‘Student Physio Podcast’. There are also various podcasts for physiotherapy specialisms. A favourite of mine is ‘A Neuro Physio Podcast’. All available on Spotify.

Clinical Physio

My personal favourite for webinars that help bridge the difference between what we learn in the classroom and what we experience on placement. There is such a variety on this website thanks to Khalid and the team. Even if you don’t want to watch the full webinars, its social media accounts have snippets of information and posts that summarise a range of physiotherapy topics. I really like its daily quiz questions on social media, which keep the cogs turning even if the subject is not something you are currently studying or working in.

James Armstrong Physio (YouTube)

James is a recent physiotherapy graduate with a real passion for supporting students/newly qualified physiotherapists. He has a really relatable and helpful YouTube channel with videos on everything you may need to know as a physio student, from a placement series to books that may help get you through your degree!

If you come across resources and tools you would like to share with other clinicians please send them to

Physio student planner – The Happy Student Co.

These can be found on Etsy and are a yearly planner fully tailored to physiotherapy students! There are sections with medical abbreviations, normal reading ranges and there is even a place to log placement hours and CPD skills acquired. It’s just something to make the life of a physio student that much easier. Available from £19.

Instagram pages

There are SO many physio Instagram pages with oodles of content to give you tips for placements, more pathology/physiology knowledge, tricks for revision and support for different peer groups. A few I’d like to mention are Learning Physiotherapy – like Clinical Physio, it has daily quizzes and content to expand your learning.

Cultural Health Club is a ‘team aiming to make being healthy equal for all’ and has a special aim to support students and physios from ethnic minority backgrounds. Manni, their founder, chats with students and physios from a range of different specialisms around the UK on Instagram and there is also the option to become a member of the Cultural Health Club, which gives access to even more content.

It wouldn’t be an article from the Student Reference Group social media officer without recommending The CSP Students page where you can find student and society takeovers throughout the year to see what other students around the UK are getting up to as well as loads of information about the wider world of physio.
