The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy has expressed disappointment at the Budget unveiled by the chancellor, Philip Hammond.
Mr Hammond announced £650 million for social care for local authorities in England, which experts estimate is between a third to a half of the funding needed.
Rob Yeldham, director of strategy, policy and engagement at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, said:
'The Budget has failed to address the desperate need to properly fund health and social care.
'To make even modest improvements, independent analysis shows that both the NHS and social care need significantly more money than has been committed today.
'Every day, physiotherapists and physiotherapy support workers see the impact of this chronic underfunding.
'With an ageing population, we must see significant investment in social care, community healthcare and prevention services, if there are to be positive, impactful and long-lasting changes.'
