CSP networks raise the profile of equality and diversity

Members of the CSP diversity networks gathered this week to plan activity for next year aimed at developing closer working with students, and among other members and workplace reps.

The joint meeting of the LGBT+, BAME and DisAbility networks, at the CSP’s London headquarters yesterday, also explored ways to increase engagement with existing network members around issues that most matter to them.

It was a busy schedule with members working through lunch as they participated in a promotional photo and video session.

Higher visibility

‘CSP members should expect to see higher visibility of equality and diversity issues in the coming months,’ says Ian Scrase, convenor of the LGBT+ network.

‘We had a really productive day and I’m really looking forward to progressing our priorities in 2020,’ commented Mohammad Shoiab, co-convenor of the BAME network, echoing the views of other participants.

Common issues

Erin Power, co-convenor of the DisAbility network, added: ‘We had an opportunity to work on plans specific to our networks but what became really clear in discussions and joint workshops later in the day were the common issues that all network members face and the value of supporting each other to pursue our goals.’
