East of England First Contact Physiotherapists come together in Cambridge

The CSP East of England Regional Network hosted their second event about First Contact Physiotherapy (FCP) in Cambridge on Tuesday 10 March.

The event was led by Honorary Chair, Becca Knowles, and brought together 50 CSP members spanning a range of experienced FCPs, those interested in FCP and some novices. It provided a space to share experiences about mobilising and implementing FCP services in the East of England.

Helen Harte, CSP Professional Adviser, started the day with an update on FCP from the CSP. Ganesh Bhaliah, Regional Head of Allied Health Professions, Health Education England joined the event and gave an overview on national and regional training opportunities clearing sharing the message that AHPs are capable of stepping into leadership positions.

Dr Simon Lowe from Circle Health Bedfordshire provided a useful perspective on FCP from a GP’s viewpoint including information on how to navigate a relationship with PCNs.

The delegates enjoyed a networking lunch and a sharing session on training, care navigation and patient satisfaction which was prompted by feedback from the last event.

The event finished with a Clinical CPD session on masquerading pathologies from Dr Deepak Jadon Consultant Rheumatologist at Nuffield Health.

The Regional Network is looking for new core team members willing to lead local engagement in the East of England. This opportunity is open to all CSP members. Email eastofenglandchair@csp.org.uk to find out more.
