The latest pay offer for NHS staff from the Scottish government is an encouraging sign that the threat of industrial action is having an effect, the CSP has said.
Following negotiations with staffside trade unions, the Scottish government announced today that it would add a further £35m to the NHS pay bill to improve salaries for the vast majority of staff.
The newly negotiated money will be largely distributed between bands 5 and 7 after a previous offer also boosted pay for the lowest paid.
Claire Ronald, CSP senior negotiating officer for Scotland, gave a positive reception to the latest offer.
'We are pleased that the government has listened to our concerns about its previous offer and returned to the table with an increase that is funded by new money and also covers more staff, albeit not all.
'It is an encouraging forward step and we will now put it to our pay sub-committee of members to get their decision on next steps.'

Claire added that the new offer meant the message was clear to members currently balloting in England and Wales: vote yes.
These developments are a clear result of the strong mandates for strike action secured by health unions in Scotland.
