Video highlights wide participation ahead of next week's strikes in England and Wales

The CSP has released a video round-up of last week's historic events, when physiotherapists took strike action for the first time over NHS pay.

The video highlights the huge support the strike action received from CSP members at 30 trusts across England

Its release comes ahead of further industrial action next week.  CSP members in all health boards across Wales are set to strike on 7 February, and two days later members at a further 33 trusts in England will strike on 9 February.

The CSP remains willing to enter meaningful talks with either nations’ government on this year’s pay.  However, if either government’s position remains unchanged, further strike dates will be planned for – with CSP Council potentially calling on members in 56 further employers which achieved a mandate to strike.

Strong support

Physiotherapy staff who took to the picket lines last week received messages of solidarity and support fellow members, AHPs and medical colleagues - as well as the general public, CSP staff and officials and reps from across the trade union movement.

The quotes below are just some of the many messages that were received on the day:

I have needed MSK care all my life, and have received excellent support from the physio team. They are life changing people who have pulled me up from depression... I support them back. I hope you achieve your goals. (Karen – osteoarthritis patient)

'I wish I could be there with you guys. We have to fight to save the profession for ourselves, those coming into the profession and for our patients. Thank you all for what you are doing!' (Victoria)

As a retired member I am absolutely in support of your strike action. NHS staff have been exploited for far too long. Stay strong and fight for what you believe in (Gill)

Last week's strike action also received extensive media coverage, as a second video montage below shows:
