The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) has launched a consultation on a proposed fee rise of £6.98 to their annual registration fee, as well as a rise in other related charges.
CSP members are being encouraged to voice their opinions and provide feedback on the proposed changes, which would result in a new annual registration fee of £123.34.
In a statement about the consultation, the HCPC said: ‘We need to maintain our financial sustainability and ensure we have the funding required to effectively discharge our statutory duties to protect the public.
‘We understand the continuing financial pressures that registrants face, which is why we are making efficiencies and have restricted the proposed increase to the minimum necessary.’
We are encouraging all our members to provide your thoughts and feedback to the HCPC consultation, which is open until 11.59pm on 14 June.
Any fee increase must be matched by better service
Commenting on the proposed fee rise, Ash James, CSP director of practice and development, said: ‘We recognise the continued financial stress members are under, and any increase to fees is a difficult one.
The CSP will ensure they are clear that any increase in fees will have to translate into a better service for registrants, and we will hold them to account on this
‘We have a productive, open dialogue with the HCPC on a range of issues. We understand they are already taking steps to make these improvements internally and are seeing useful cooperation with them, particularly around data, which we know will improve services for registrants.’
Ash added that he will be completing an official response to the consultation on behalf of the CSP, as well as encouraging individual responses from members
