Back pain, MSK conditions, innovations and the workforce crisis in Scotland - October in the media

Physiotherapy continued to feature prominently in the media in October

CSP’s Ash James and spokesperson, Jackie Walumbe helped to raise awareness about living with chronic pain and the crucial role physiotherapy plays in supporting patients in ITN Business’s ‘Pathways to Pain Management’ film.

CSP’s Rob Yeldham is interviewed by the New Statesman alongside Tracey Loftis, Head of Policy, Public Affairs and Engagement at Versus Arthritis, on the millions of people living with MSK conditions and the case for better investment in, and access to, rehab services that can help people stay in work.

Vice-chair of Council Alex Spearritt spoke to BBC Merseyside about Scouse School, which supports colleagues from overseas to integrate into their new workplace.

CSP’s Sara Conroy was interviewed by STV Central about the staffing crisis in NHS Scotland and the possible solutions, following a local patient who shared their story about missing out on rehab after an accident.

Isle of Wight Radio promoted the island’s inaugural MSK Better Health Day which offered appointments with clinical specialists and wider community services to patients on the waiting list. The broadcast led to a number of walk-ins out of a total of 254 people who benefited on the day.

Lower back pain causes misery for up to 60 per cent of the UK's adult population at some point in their lives. The Times reviewed some studies and CSP spokesperson, Sam Bhide, offered some advice.

The Daily Mail published an ‘essential guide to treating back pain’ and as part of this interviews CSP spokesperson Mehmet Gem about why it happens and what people can do about it.
