'We are launching a full consultation with members,' said Claire Sullivan, CSP director of employment relations and union services

The offer from the Scottish government, negotiated with health unions including the CSP, is made up of a number of parts.

It includes structural reform of Agenda for Change and a pay rise of at least 9 per cent over the next three years for most members, with bigger rises for those still progressing through the pay system.

Employees currently earning up to £80,000 will receive the uplift, and those earning £80,000 and over will receive a flat rate increase of £1,600 a year.

The offer was discussed by the CSP’s member-led working group on pay, which voted to recommend accepting the offer.

The offer will now be put to members through a full consultation. This will include workplace meetings and an on-line survey.

Claire Sullivan, CSP director of employment relations and union services, said:

‘We welcome the approach in Scotland where NHS pay has been ahead of the rest of the UK for a number of years.

‘We believe this offer represents a welcome recognition of the skill, passion and dedication displayed by NHS staff day in, day out.

‘As always the final decision is for our members to make so we are now launching a full consultation with members.

‘We encourage everyone employed in the NHS in Scotland to engage with the process to have their say.’

More detail on the offer will be available on the CSP website in the coming days.
