CSP welcomes consultation to tackle obesity in Wales

Health minister Vaughan Gething has launched a consultation on the Welsh government’s first ever obesity strategy.

Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales  has a focus on prevention, including measures to encourage people to be more active.

Philippa Ford, public affairs and policy manager for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in Wales said:

‘The CSP welcomes the new consultation from Welsh Government as we know there are a number of barriers which can prevent people from being active.

‘Our Love activity, Hate exercise? campaign is about physiotherapists having conversations with their patients to determine what these are and looking at different ways people can become more active with a range of long-term conditions.

‘We are therefore fully supportive of any further initiatives such as Healthy Weight: Healthy Wales that can help to increase activity levels, particularly for children and young people.’
