'I am very proud to be a CSP steward and feel very privileged that the membership I represent vote me back in year on year,' says Louise Wright, senior technician in the community with adults with learning disabilities, at Aneurin Beavan University Health Board.
' I am also very proud that I have been the CSP national regional steward of Wales for a number of years.
'I had excellent training to become a steward from Louise Walker within the CSP and would like to say thank you to her for her encouraging me to put myself forward for the role as the national regional steward of Wales.
'A number opportunities have come my way since and I was delighted to be votes in by staff side as their vice chair within ABUHB.
'Having a passion for trade union work is not defined by your job role - it is the ability to be able to help and support members when they need your help.
'Understanding the NHS terms & conditions, all Wales policies and local policies is paramount.
'Having empathy, patience and a common-sense approach to dealing with a multitude of issues.
'Over the years I have dealt with a wide range of matters from capability issues, disciplinary issues, flexible working requests, sickness reviews and organisational change within the health board I work in.
'My grade within the health board has never been a barrier for me. When I am doing my trade union role my grade is irrelevant and does not deter me from presuming the best outcome for members. I believe if you are able to get good results for the members that speaks for its self.
'If you have a passion to want to help people and be part of changing things for the better I would encourage all associate members to think about how you can make a difference within your working area or organisation.'
'There are no restrictions to becoming a CSP steward or health and safety representative. You just need your CSP colleagues to vote you in!
