Senedd Health Committee to Prioritise Rehab Access

Following the Senedd elections, the CSP met with the new committee chairperson and wrote to all members of the committee to reiterate the importance of rehab and managing MSK waiting lists.  

Public Affairs and Policy manager for Wales, Calum Higgins said: 

"We've had really constructive conversations with politicians on the Health committee, and we are pleased that our priorities have made it into the consultation following our discussions before and after the election.  We have worked closely with partners such as the Royal College of Occupational Therapy in Wales, and Versus Arthritis Cymru, to highlight members' work during the pandemic and issues such as access to vital rehab services across Wales.  It's important to keep the momentum going on these issues and we encourage members to respond to consultations such as this so we can support change at a national level"

During autumn 2021, the Committee will be considering its strategic approach and forward work programme. 

The initial priorities for the Sixth Senedd identified by the Committee are:

• Public health and prevention
• The health and social care workforce, including organisational culture and staff wellbeing
• Access to mental health services
• Evidence based innovation in health and social care
• Support and services for unpaid carers
• Access to COVID and non-COVID rehabilitation services
• Access to services for long-term chronic conditions, including musculoskeletal conditions
