New CSP Fellows Amanda Thomas and Andrew Walton

Amanda Thomas was nominated for her clinical leadership, research and professional education in the field of cardiorespiratory and critical care.

While Andrew Walton’s leadership, drive and influence in delivering positive and progressive change in musculoskeletal practice and excellence in service delivery earned him the honour.

An author of numerous works on cardiorespiratory physio, Thomas has helped develop clinical standards of care, including through her work on NICE guidelines and as adviser to the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcomes and death report ‘On the Right Trach’.

She has also pioneered simulation-based education in her field.

Founder of Connect Health, Walton was an early adopter of self-referral, telephone triage and online physiotherapy practices for musculoskeletal conditions.

He has also focused on deliberative data collection systems and electronic records, using them to raise the visibility of clinical and operational performance. Results from this work have informed service improvement and an evolving evidence bank.

Fellowships recognise members whose work has developed research, clinical practice and extended the evidence base for physiotherapy.

Fellowship nominations are considered anonymously against common criteria by an independent panel whose proposals are then confirmed by the CSP Council.
