Five reasons to study this programme at the University of South Wales

  1. USW offers the only part-time physiotherapy course in Wales, helping students who have existing family and work commitments that preclude full-time study options, ensuring that socio-economic factors do not prevent access to the profession. Students on this programme are eligible to take up the Welsh NHS bursary, which covers all tuition fees with additional exciting funding opportunities available for NHS staff who may wish to retrain or upskill to autonomous physiotherapy practitioners.
  2. We are committed to widening participation to higher education and to the physiotherapy profession through our contextual admissions policy that uses additional information, provided on application, to give context beyond grades and predicted grades. We are determined to help those with the potential to succeed, regardless of circumstance, be encouraged to apply and, where possible, afforded the opportunity to discuss their application at interview.
  3. The course has 20% of its content focused on interprofessional education. This ensures that students develop clear understanding of the multidisciplinary nature of teamwork in practice and that they approach employment with this as an established concept, valuing all team members equally as they provide contemporary person centred healthcare.
  4. Our contemporary curriculum and assessment journey has been developed in full collaboration with all stakeholders, including service users, students, employers, health boards, third sector, Welsh government representatives and leaders in allied health professions and physiotherapy. Our aim is to involve stakeholders in all modules to ensure the currency and validity of our course and to embed future facing education.
  5. The Physiotherapy programme at USW has an emphasis on exercise, activity and play and we deliver this using our vast range of world class facilities. We strive to help graduates contribute positively to creating a healthier active Wales.
