Vertebral fractures – new patient and professional resources

CSP member Nicola Walsh, Professor of knowledge mobilisation and musculoskeletal health at the University of the West of England, has collaborated with expert colleagues to develop two education resources on osteoporotic vertebral fractures.

One resource is designed for clinicians, while the other is aimed at patients. The professional resource on vertebral fracture is titled ‘A guide to diagnosis for healthcare professionals in primary care’.

While ‘Spinal fracture: Breaks in the bones in your spine’ provides a guide to diagnosis for patients and carers.

Both resources were developed as part of the University of Bristol’s vertebral fracture study, with funding from the National Institute for Health and Care Research.

Dealing with disclosure

Dealing with disclosure is a new video resource from the CSP’s LGBTQIA+ networks, which aims to help non-LGBTQIA+ physiotherapists to empathetically respond to colleagues who disclose their sexual and/or gender identity in a place of work or study.

Better Health: Loneliness campaign

As part of Better Health: Every Mind Matters, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has launched a new phase of their Loneliness campaign.

The campaign aims to encourage people to ‘Lift Someone Out of Loneliness’, through simple, low-cost actions.

It includes a range of resources, including a toolkit, suggested social media copy and a variety of digital assets.

NHS Digital - Keep I.T. Confidential 

NHS Digital have released new cyber security resources as part of their Keep I.T Confidential campaign, which aims to make NHS and social care staff more aware of the threat of ransomware.

Two new information packs have been published; including one aimed at staff based in clinical settings.

The free resources aim is to help improve staff knowledge of cyber security concerns such as phishing, unauthorised data sharing, unlocked screens and weak passwords.

CSP Annual Conference call for abstracts

The CSP’s annual conference will be held in four locations this year, in each of the UK countries, and will focus on four themes. Members wanting to present at one of the events can submit abstracts on work or ideas that tie in with one these themes:

• Accelerating Improvement 
• Evolving Practice 
• Essential Rehabilitation  
• Education and Innovation
