More than 1,100 members, working for Health and Social Care Northern Ireland (HSCNI), are preparing for a further day of strike action on 18 January 2024.
Our members in Northern Ireland have still not received a public sector pay rise for 2023/24. Nor have they received a non-consolidated payment for 2022/23, such as those made to NHS staff in England, Wales and Scotland following our industrial campaigns.
The CSP’s member-led Council has decided that governments’ failure to address this unacceptable situation has left us no choice but to use our strike mandate again. Council has asked members in Northern Ireland to get ready for another day of industrial action.
With other unions – in healthcare and other public services – in a similar situation, there is a high-likelihood that 18 January will see a coordinated day of action across the Northern Irish economy.
The planned strike follows our members’ half-day walk out on 21 September.

'While the lack of an Executive makes this a complex situation, decision makers in Northern Ireland and London can still avert these strikes by giving healthcare workers a fair pay offer. But to achieve this we need all members to keep the pressure up, and if it comes to it turn out and offer your support on the day.'
