Members' actions will be vital to influencing the new UK government, says Rob Yeldham, CSP’s director of strategy, policy and engagement
Depending on when Frontline lands on your doormat, you’ll either be reading this just as the UK goes to the polls for the general election, or just after the vote.
In last month’s Frontline we previewed the election and reminded people about how to register. In this month’s edition, we look forward to how the CSP and the profession can influence new ministers and MPs so that we see real change in our feature titled 'post-election influencing'.
The CSP is championing the transformation of rehab services, an expanded physiotherapy workforce to deliver these services and fair pay and conditions to retain the workforce.
Some of our key advocates in the last parliament stood down at this election, so we used the election period to engage candidates and encourage them to sign up to be rehab champions in the new parliament.
Many thanks to all the members who helped by contacting their local candidates and encouraged them to become rehab champions. Many candidates have signed up, which now gives us a strong basis to influence the new government.
In the coming months, we will need your help again to promote physiotherapy.
Visits to services or universities, and meeting physios, physio students and physio support workers, can show politicians the vital work members do to transform lives.
