Have your say on pay award for England 2024/25

The CSP will be inviting member views on the pay award announced last week for England 2024/25.

Members employed by the NHS in England should receive an email on14 August to invite views on the pay award.

Last week the UK government accepted the Pay Review Body (PRB) report's recommendations in full for NHS pay in England.

We expect the pay award of 5.5 per cent for all staff - backdated to April - to be made in October payslips. As this is an award and not an offer, this is not a formal consultation, but it is an important opportunity to understand member’s views.

Information on how to share your views will be outlined in the email to members and the exercise will run for one month, closing noon on 13 September.

Elaine Sparkes, assistant director of Employment Relations and Union Services at the CSP, said:  ‘It is important that the CSP understands members’ opinions on the pay award as this will help set direction for ongoing conversations with the government for future years.

'While we welcome the above inflation award, we know that there’s more to be done to restore the value of NHS pay. We will continue to influence the government to deliver a future pay strategy that rewards the NHS workforce properly.’

To ensure we can contact members directly if necessary, we are asking all members to update their member profile information, in particular their employer and workplace information and contact details, including the full postal address.

If you have not received an email from us asking for your views by 19 August, contact the CSP enquiries team.

Meanwhile in other nations, the governments in Wales and Northern Ireland will now consider the report.

In parallel, pay negotiations with the Scottish government have started - with the CSP and other health unions continuing direct negotiations through August.
