Winner of the CSP Student Rep of the Year award 2023/24, Mabel Anugo, shares her highlights from the past year as a student rep and why you should put yourself forward for this exciting leadership opportunity.
Mabel was nominated by her peers for the Student Rep of the Year award for her tireless efforts to support students and represent the voice of her cohort at the University of Bradford to the CSP. As well as providing advice to students on placement, ensuring they feel equipped and confident in their learning environments, she has also promoted additional opportunities to help fund and enhance their clinical experiences, such as the CSP Education and Development Placement Award.
‘I have proactively assisted not only my own cohort but also the year below in preparing for practical exam revisions, fostering a collaborative learning atmosphere that prioritises peer support and mutual success.’
Mabel has also consistently promoted and advertised CSP events, ensuring that students are informed and motivated to engage with the broader professional development opportunities available to student members. In addition to this, Mabel has worked within her university society to plan CPD events and has a strong commitment to elevating the student experience and facilitating learning that extends beyond university lectures.
‘Advocating for students' needs is a cornerstone of my role.
One instance of this was lobbying for adequate placement uniforms to support students in maintaining professionalism and comfort during clinical practice.
