‘A Better Understanding of Children with Cerebral Palsy and similar Neurodevelopmental Conditions and principles to improve their coordination’
For the benefit of Paediatric Therapists who wish to gain new knowledge and insights that open the opportunity to further develop excellent clinical reasoning and treatment skills, for the treatment of children with CP and similar neurologyneurodevelopmental conditions.
Engaging, thought-provoking, and interactive, including in-depth analysis of numerous video case studies of clients with various ages and presentations.
- Gain a deeper understanding of key mechanisms that improve the child’s ability to learn and progress, whilst avoiding (or delaying) a plateau effect.
- See how it is possible to target where the problem originates i.e. improving the function of: Basal Ganglia for clients with Dyskinetic CP / White Matter for clients with PVL, ...
- Observe and analyse a variety of therapeutic activities designed to optimize brain function following an initial insult and its subsequent reorganization.

Course Aims: To introduce participants to:
- The MAES Therapy framework: A specific framework for identifying the relationship between skills and tasks, highlighting its critical relevance in understanding the underlying causes of atypical patterns of coordination in children with Cerebral Palsy.
- The Impact of Missing Skills: An understanding of why missing skills has long-term consequences on a child’s ability to participate in everyday activities such as mobility, self-care, play and communication
- Alternative Developmental Path: Recognizing the importance of providing children with a different path for development by acting on the primary cause of the limitation, rather than focusing solely on visible symptoms
- Individualized Treatment Strategies: Applying the MAES Therapy Clinical Framework to design tailored treatment plans that meet the unique needs of each child
- Expanding Therapeutic Strategies: Understand the need for therapists to develop a wide repertoire of strategies enabling children to develop a greater variety of problem-solving skills.
With this 2-Day Course, you will be introduced to M.A.E.S. Therapy and have an overview of the content that is developed during the 4-Week M.A.E.S. Foundation Course.
You will gain valuable insights into the clinical reasoning that underpins the M.A.E.S. Therapy treatment approach
