North West Network event to support workforce development

On 11th May the North West CSP Network welcomed over 50 members to their first in-person event in almost three years.

The event, chaired by Karen Martin and Jo Lishman focused on ‘Developing a workforce fit for the future’, with delegates hearing from peers working across differing roles and levels of seniority in physiotherapy and AHP.

Speakers included:

  • Gareth Cornell, Regional Workforce Lead (Allied Health Professions); Physiotherapy workforce in the North West: drivers, trends, challenges and opportunities.
  • Tanya Booth, Maria Fox, and Emma (preceptee) from Western Cheshire Joint Therapy Services; presenting their Preceptorship programme.
  • Jo O'Neil, Clinical Lead Therapist at Aintree University Hospital; International recruitment of AHPs, a new digital induction process and introduction to the HEE support worker framework.
  • Gill Rawlinson, Salford University; innovative practice-based learning and simulation, building quality and capacity.
  • Stephen Hoyle, Deputy Directorate Lead for the Integrated MSK (IMPReS); Coaching for Workforce Development

Co-Chair of the CSP North West Network, Karen Martin, said: “It was a pleasure to meet up with local members, for this well-overdue in person event. Given the ongoing changes to structure and staffing throughout the profession, it made perfect sense to focus this event on developing our workforce. We were delighted with the calibre of speakers who gave their time to present today, and judging from the event’s positive attendance and feedback, the local members agree.”
