  • Using personalised care to select the consultation approach is just one part of the bigger picture, and can be a great place to get started. 

Reflect on the points in a patient’s journey where personalised care and shared decision making could be used to select the consultation approach:

  • When the first appointment is being booked, in planning how and where the patient will be assessed, what treatment approaches will be taken, and what, how and where the next steps will be.
  • Do your current pathways and resources support patients to make an informed decision? Could any of the above resources support this?
  • If you have administrative support at the beginning of your treatment pathway, how could you upskill the administrator to help them discuss with patients if they would prefer an in-person or remote consultation?
